Home ownership often comes with landscaping challenges. Perhaps that evergreen tree that you planted 20 years ago has now outlived its usefulness,
or tall trees in your yard are now a windfall danger to your home. Or simply you moved into a new home with one or more large stumps in your yard.
In both cases, the answer is to remove the tree. As complete tree removal
is an expensive proposition, usually requiring a larger excavator and experienced operator, in addition to disposal of the stump and filling in the crater of earth left behind,
most homeowners choose to cut the tree down, which leaves a stump behind. If the stump is in a unused section of your yard it may not bother you. but what if you have decided to
make use of that area, for lawn, garden or entertainment space?
How stump grinding can help;
Graystone Tractor Services offers residential stump grinding services. both standalone grinding or as part of another of our services. We can help eliminate your stump problem by
grinding it down just below grade, where it can be buried and the area re-purposed with fresh grass, a patio, a new outbuilding and so much more.
Our stump grinding service will quickly reduce the unsightly stump to sawdust mulch. It involves using a commercial stump grinder on the stump, which utilizes a powerful engine
with a special wood chipping wheel which is designed to turn stumps into chips and sawdust. Cost of grinding depends mostly on amount of time required. Stumps cut relatively low to the
ground on mostly level ground are the fastest to dispatch, while stumps cut high or located on a hillside or difficult to access area will take longer.
We can currently grind stumps up to 24" in diameter and offer standalone grinding services in addition to services packaged with our other tractor services.
RCW 19.122 Washington State Dig law, which protects underground services requires
homeowners are required to spray paint a white circle on the ground around any stumps and roots to be removed
and call 811 (call before you dig) or visit their website at
www.callbeforeyoudig.org
at least 2-3 days before the stump grinding service is scheduled. Any underground utilities will be marked by the utility company.
