At Graystone Tractor Services, we are well experienced in light land clearing and permanent removal of stubborn brush, weeds and overgrowth. We can help you re-purpose overgrown areas by removing brush and small unwanted trees and shrubs, leaving bare dirt behind, which you can re-purpose for outbuilding, new grass areas, gardens etc. In most cases, stubborn brush is pulled out by the roots or dug out, using our front end loader, which is equipped with a brush removal blade. Blackberries, salmonberry, miscellanous sticker bushes, salal etc. can all be removed quickly and easily, usually within a matter of hours.

Generally, the vegetation is uprooted and piled for burning. Alternatively, it can be ground up using our brush mower, hauled away by a third party or relocated to another area of your property to decompose naturally.

Although we grub the area throughly, pulling up some brush by the roots, some native species, including the invasive Himalyan Blackberry as well as Salmonberry species can remain deep in the ground for up to a couple of years. In such cases, after clearing off vegetation, it will usually be necessary to spot treat occasional deeply buried roots that emerge with brush killer. If you are concerned about using herbicide on your property, a highly effective method is to dab a small amount of brush killer on a freshly cut cane. This will kill the cane down to the root without overspray on your property.
